Marital Bliss and a Beach

Phil and I got married just six months ago and already we want to go back and do it all over again! To say it was a celebration is an understatement, and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Following our gorgeous Kansas wedding, we jetted off on our 10-day long honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii! Cannot even begin to describe how beautiful of a vacation this was!

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa. Holy. Gorgeous. This place had literally EVERYTHING. We’re talking the most gorgeous room we’ve ever stayed in, amazing restaurants with the best food, several pools (with swim-up bars, of course), outdoor spa, private luau, oh and don’t forget an up-close-and-personal view of the ocean.

One of the very first things we set out to do was see the whole island from up above…I surprised Phil with a helicopter tour and it was absolutely incredible! Our pilot was so knowledgeable about the island and the views were amazing!

One of the best parts of the tour was our stop at the base of a 400-ft. waterfall that was made famous due to its appearance in Jurassic Park!

Because of the significant time change, we woke up every morning to gorgeous Hawaiian sunrises and always had early starts to our days exploring the island.

On a couple different occasions, we drove up to the north side of the island (from where we were staying on the south side) and made several stops along the way. The drive was so scenic that it was difficult to notice that we didn’t exceed 45 MPH the whole time we were traveling – speed limits in Hawaii are SLOW. It definitely fits with their pace of life though.

The view as we were driving along Kapaa Beach…

…and at the Kilauea Point Lighthouse overlook…breathtaking!

Once we made it to the north side of the island, we spent the day soaking up the sun and boogie boarding the waves at Hanalei Bay. This quickly became our favorite beach and most visited spot on the island.

Another great thing about this area was a small, roadside juice stand that we discovered that had the most delicious and thirst-quenching smoothies! They were perfect after a long day on the beach.

One of our favorite parts of traveling is trying all of the local food and beverages. Needless to say, Kauai had some great options for us to check out, including some of the best fish tacos we have had!

And those pineapple drinks…So. Good. They definitely put the cherry on top of the full Hawaiian experience!

We can’t wait to go back again (hopefully very soon)!
